Stewardship of creation
Dear friends,

This week's edition of Women Matter focuses on two environmental events - World Water Day and Earth Hour. Perhaps as you are observing earth hour you might choose to say the prayer we have included to help focus on the importance of stewarding God's creation. When reflecting on water and electricity and the gifts they are in our lives, we might take a moment to thank God for all that they let us do.

Also included are some resources from different dioceses and a number of events and retreats you may like to attend.

As always, we encourage you to share any reflections you might have on Women Matter. We invite you send up items to include in our sections - prayers, reflections, resources, articles, blogs. Please send any contributions with a photo to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .

Have a wonderful week!

Prayers for the people of Japan
Dear friends,

This week, we particularly keep in prayer the victims of the earthquake and tsunami in Japan. A disaster of this scale causes a lot of questions and we pray that in time, the answers will illuminate our hearts. Why do disasters happen? many people come out at times like this with theories - scientific theories, spiritual theories. What is important though is how we respond. That may be by donating money to the recovery, or by assisting in some other way. You may like to hold a fundraiser or a prayer vigil.

How will women mark this Lent?

Dear friends,

this week we have much to celebrate, but also much to reflect on.
What will we give up this Lent? what might we take up? So much talk of giving up chocolate and alcohol - but often less talk of prayer and reflection, increased action for justice.
